FDY fully drawn yarn

Full name: FULL DRAW YARN fully drawn yarn (called fully stretched yarn in Taiwan). Synthetic fiber filaments are further made by spinning and stretching. The fibers have been fully stretched and can be directly used for textile processing.

Conventional fully drawn yarns of polyester and nylon are both chemical fiber filaments. FDY fabrics feel smooth and soft, and are often used to weave imitation silk fabrics. It has a wide range of uses in clothing and home textiles.

POY pre-oriented yarn

Full name: PRE-ORIENTED YARN or PARTIALLY ORIENTED YARN. Refers to chemical fiber filaments that are not fully stretched and have an orientation between unoriented yarns and stretched yarns obtained by high-speed spinning. Compared with unstretched yarns, it has a certain degree of orientation and good stability, and is often used as a special yarn for stretched false twist textured yarn (DTY).

DTY stretched textured yarn

Full name: DRAW TEXTURED YARN. It is made by using POY as raw yarn, stretching and false twisting. It often has certain elasticity and shrinkage.

ATY air deformation yarn

Invented by DuPont in the United States, the principle is to use the air jet method to make the air jet technology to entangle the yarn bundles to form irregular twisted yarn loops, so that the yarn bundles have fluffy terry yarn. The processed deformation yarn has the performance of both filament and staple yarn, with strong wool feel, good hand feel, and better coverage than staple yarn.

Use It is suitable for weaving and knitting. Using air deformation technology, it can be made into medium and fine denier monofilament or multifilament, or core-spun wool, linen, cotton, etc., which are called yarn-like deformation yarn. It can also be processed into coarse denier yarn for carpets, sofa fabrics, and tapestries. Four kinds of raw yarns can be discharged on the general air texturing machine. The raw yarn can be monofilament or pre-oriented yarn. The single yarn fineness of general deformation yarn is lower than 2.8 DTEX (2.5D). In order to increase the number of loops on the yarn, the oil content of the original yarn should be low.

Physical properties Air-deformed yarn is superior to the original yarn before deformation in terms of fluffiness, air permeability, glossiness, softness, etc. The fineness is 10-15% higher than the original yarn, and the boiling water shrinkage is maintained at about 3%, but the strength is reduced by 40%, because only a small part of the single filament is stretched, but it bears the bearing capacity of the entire yarn bundle.

Other types of chemical fiber filaments

Primary yarn: unstretched yarn (conventional spinning) (UDY), semi-pre-oriented yarn (medium-speed spinning) (MOY), highly oriented yarn (ultra-high-speed spinning) (HOY)

Stretched yarn: low-speed stretched yarn (DY), fully taken yarn (spinning one-step method) (FOY)

Deformed yarn: conventional deformed yarn (DY)

Identification method

Generally, POY can be pulled longer by hand, while FDY can be pulled less. Because POY is a pre-oriented yarn, it is not fully stretched, and the residual elongation must be above 50%; while FDY is a fully oriented yarn, and the residual elongation is generally above 40%, which is relatively stable.

In appearance, DTY fiber is curly, POY and FDY fibers are straight, and FDY has better strength, while POY has slightly worse strength.
